The St. Petersburg authorities intend to change parking conditions for people with disabilities.
Now people with disabilities will be allowed to leave their cars in the neighbourhood of their residence. The official wording is as follows: citizens with disabilities of groups I, II and III will be able to leave their cars in paid car parks "free of charge round the clock outside specially designated and marked with appropriate road signs and markings parking spaces".
The permit will also affect people transporting disabled people. In addition, the owner of the car must have "limitation of the ability to move independently of any degree of severity". The draft resolution was published on 30 January on the website of the city administration.
Today there are 4945 parking places for disabled people and people transporting them in paid car parks of the city streets. In the Central district there are 1642 of them, in the Admiralteysky district - 1176, in Petrogradsky district - 1171, in Vasileostrovsky district - 956.
