According to Reuters, an IAEA convoy left Kiev on Wednesday morning, August 31, and headed toward the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) in Energodar.

The time when the inspectors are expected to reach ZNPP is not specified.

The IAEA mission left the Austrian capital on Monday, August 29, and arrived in Kiev the next day, where the delegation met with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky.

A UN source familiar with the details of the mission earlier said that it included representatives of 10 nations: Albania, France, Italy, Jordan, China, Lithuania, Mexico, Poland, Serbia and Northern Macedonia. The delegation is headed by Rafael Grossi, the IAEA Director General.

The source explained that Russian and Ukrainian representatives were not included in the mission to ensure its neutrality and impartiality. The IAEA inspectors will examine nuclear safety at the Zaporizhzhia NPP. The UN representatives provide only logistical - transportation to the plant - and security assistance, the source specified.
