Erdogan became president of Turkey for the third time, winning more than 52% of the vote in the election

Last Sunday, May 28, the second round of presidential elections was held in Turkey. According to its results, the incumbent President Recep Tayyip Erdogan won with more than 52% of the votes. This was announced by the head of the Higher Election Commission of the country Ahmet Yener.

According to him, more than 99% of the ballots were processed. Second presidential candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu got 47.86% of votes. Thus, Erdogan officially becomes the new president of Turkey.

The head of the Election Commission noted that Erdogan's lead over his opponent was more than two million votes. The final results of the election will be published in the official gazette on June 1.
