The former FRG chancellor has already proposed his peace plan in 2022.
Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder believes that his friendship with Putin can contribute to a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. He stated in an interview with DPA.
"We have cooperated reasonably for many years. Perhaps it will still help to find a negotiated solution, I do not see any other," Schröder said.
According to the former chancellor, Germany and France should take the initiative in this matter. He added that he believes it is absolutely wrong to forget the positive moments in the relationship between the countries.
He called "nonsense" statements about a possible nuclear strike by Russia or its attack on one of the NATO countries. And in order to prevent such a development of events it is necessary to think about de-escalation in Ukraine.
