In addition to Russians, Sri Lankan authorities have started issuing free visas for citizens of six countries.
Sri Lanka has started issuing free visas to citizens of seven countries, including Russia. The corresponding message came from the department of government information of the republic.
According to the message, the free visa regime will be valid until March 31, 2024. Apart from Russians all this time free visas to Sri Lanka will be available to residents of China, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Japan.
"The citizens mentioned above must apply for an electronic travel authorization before arriving in Sri Lanka," Sri Lanka's government information department said in a statement.
The free visa expires after 30 days, with double entry into the republic allowed from the date of first arrival in the country within 30 days.
Earlier the Cabinet of Ministers of Sri Lanka approved free visas for Russians.
