In Kyrgyzstan Russian language will retain status of official one

The constitutional meeting in Kyrgyzstan rejected the earlier initiative to deprive the Russian language of its official status. This issue will not be considered, Urmat Amanaliyev, a member of the meeting, said during the briefing.

The draft constitution of Kyrgyzstan, which is going to be considered at the meeting, provides for Russian as an official language, quotes Amanaliev "Interfax."

Recall that earlier this norm was proposed to be removed from the basic law of the republic. This was done on the eve of Sadirdin Toraliev, a member of the Constitutional Conference of Kyrgyzstan.

However, most colleagues did not agree with him, the main theses of the updated constitution have not changed. In particular, in her 15th article, Kyrgyz is called the state language, and Russian is called the official language.
