US ready to deploy hypersonic missiles in Europe to deter Russia

US National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien announced his readiness to deploy hypersonic missiles in Europe. Weapons should be an obstacle to Russia's westward progress.

"The United States left the INF Treaty, and now we are developing hypersonic weapons and ballistic missile delivery systems. We are ready to deploy such weapons in Europe so that it is possible to restrain Russia," said Robert O'Brien during a speech at the Hudson Institute.

The United States withdrew from the INF Treaty in August 2019, accusing Russia of violating the provisions of the treaty. Moscow, judging by accusations from the White House, is developing 9М729 ballistic missiles. In Russia, it was reported that the missile has a range of 500 kilometers, which is allowed in accordance with the INF Treaty.

Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry of Defense Alexander Fomin in July 2020 said that Washington was to blame for breaking the INF Treaty. The diplomat said that the refusal to reduce weapons is carried out to "ensure the conditions of military dominance."
