Biden promises to seek sanctions against those close to Lukashenko

Democratic candidate Joseph Biden promised to seek sanctions against individuals from the entourage of Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko.

According to Biden, the international community should significantly expand restrictions against "Lukashenko's henchmen," as well as freeze offshore accounts, where they store their "stolen wealth".

The candidate for president of the United States promised that if he wins the upcoming elections, he will act together with European partners and allies to develop a plan of economic support for sovereign Belarus, Reuters reports.

The democrat assured that he would continue to speak with the head of the Belarusian opposition Svetlana Tikhanovskaya and the people of the republic, calling for a peaceful transfer of power, the release of political prisoners and the holding of new elections.

So, according to Biden, Belarusians will be able to take advantage of democratic rights, in the struggle for which they suffered.

The statement also notes that the head of the US state, Donald Trump, "refuses to speak out" in support of the people of Belarus, while Biden plans to "support the democratic aspirations" of Belarusians and "condemns outrageous human rights violations."
