The head of the European Union's diplomatic service, Kaja Kallas, has said that the EU expects to ensure control over the safety of navigation in the Black Sea with the participation of all countries in the region, with the exception of Russia. She said this in Brussels while presenting the European Commission's new strategy aimed at developing the Black Sea region.

According to Kallas, the Black Sea maritime security hub being formed will make it possible to increase the level of protection of maritime infrastructure and the ecological state of the water area. Participants of such an association will be responsible for patrolling key facilities, as well as for controlling shipping and port operations.

Kallas emphasized that it is important for the EU to have a clear understanding of the actions of all actors in the Black Sea, which is also essential to prevent circumvention of sanctions imposed against Russia. As part of the strategy, the EU plans to implement three main initiatives aimed at supporting economic development and strengthening security in the region.

We will remind, earlier Kaya Kallas called for strong pressure on Moscow to end the conflict.
