The European Commission wants to help Moldova, suffering from the gas crisis amid a protracted dispute with Gazprom, said the spokesman for the EU foreign policy Peter Stano.

The European Union takes the situation in the country seriously. The European Commission is exploring options for diversifying gas supply sources. Peter Stano added that Gazprom's comments were taken into account, the issue of gas supplies from Russia is not being discussed.

The contract between Moldova and Gazprom ended on October 1, it was extended for a month, during which the country bought fuel at $ 790 per thousand cubic meters.
