The White House is working to lift the de facto ban on the deployment of US military contractors in Ukraine.

According to CNN, citing officials, the administration of US President Joe Biden plans to lift the ban, but it has not yet received approval from the head of state.

One of the officials noted that the head of the White House is adamant on the issue.

The TV channel's source believes that if a decision is made on the deployment of US military contractors, it is likely to be implemented this year. They hope that the contractors will help speed up the repair and maintenance of equipment used by the AFU.

One official said companies that want to send their employees to Ukraine will have to develop plans to reduce the risks to them.

The officials added that the decision would likely not result in a massive American presence in Ukraine. In their opinion, there will be a few dozen to a couple hundred contractors in Ukraine at a time.

Earlier it was reported that NATO would not invite Ukraine to the upcoming summit.
