UN prepares demining mission in Nagorno-Karabakh

The official representative of the UN Secretary General Stefan Dujarric announced the sending of the mission to Nagorno-Karabakh. Specialists will deal with the mine clearance of territories.

"The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and other UN offices are ready to cooperate in Nagorno-Karabakh. Work will be carried out, according to the results of which a full understanding of humanitarian needs in the region will be obtained," said Stefan Dujarric.

The request was sent by the Russian Federation, the representative of the UN Secretary General noted. In addition, telephone conversations were held with the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, during which the readiness to provide humanitarian assistance was emphasized.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov earlier announced attempts to slow down the implementation of the agreements in Nagorno-Karabakh. These attempts are being made from abroad.

Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized that Nagorno-Karabakh is part of Azerbaijan.
