According to the position of the authorities, withdrawing from the treaty will protect the country's economy. The Ukrainian parliament ratified the document 17 years ago.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a bill on withdrawal from the CIS Treaty on the implementation of an agreed antimonopoly legislation. This was reported by the press service of the president.
According to the position of official Kiev, the Treaty contains the possibility of exchanging information between the participating countries that have pledged to comply with it, so there is a risk of trade pressure on Ukraine.
Withdrawal from the Treaty will protect the national economy, the report also said.
The agreement was signed in Moscow at the end of January 2000. The Verkhovna Rada ratified the document in three years.
The country began to withdraw from the agreements within the framework of the association six years ago - at the same time it stopped paying contributions. This change was facilitated by a sharp deterioration in relations between Russia and Ukraine.
