The most suitable regions for construction of hydropower plants are Yakutia, Amur region and Khabarovsk province. This opinion was expressed by the head of the commission of the State Council on "Energy", the head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Aisen Nikolaev.

In my opinion, the southern areas of Yakutia, northern Amur region and part of Khabarovsk Krai have optimal conditions for the implementation of projects to build hydropower plants, he said in a conversation with TASS.

According to him, the implementation of these projects will eliminate electricity shortages in the Far East region. " [They] can be an incentive to export electricity to China, where demand for it remains. And will also contribute to the accelerated development of the Far East", - stressed the head of the commission.

Earlier, the Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Evgeny Grabchak stated that the Ministry of Energy will propose to the government of the Russian Federation a comprehensive program to support hydropower in the Far East. The programme involves finding sources of financing for the construction of new generation capacity. According to his information, in the general scheme of allocation of power facilities until 2042 already planned volumes of construction of new power facilities capable of providing about 10 GW of capacity.
