On the eve of Secretary of State Anthony Blinken's visit to China, it became known that America is preparing new sanctions against Chinese banks. The Wall Street Journal, citing its sources, reports that the U.S. authorities are developing a new package of sanctions that will cut off Chinese banks cooperating with Russia from the global financial system.

Washington claims that it is thanks to China that Russia has been able to maintain its military potential, because it is through China that the necessary microelectronics, airplane parts, cars, and machine tools are supplied. It is claimed that Chinese banks provide Russia with transactions, as well as loans.

But the US does not intend to go to such extreme measures unnecessarily, as it would mean an imminent escalation in relations between the two countries. The American authorities intend to try to achieve their goals through diplomatic pressure on Beijing.

U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will arrive in China on April 24 and will stay there for three days.

Earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz paid a three-day visit to China and also tried to persuade the Chinese leadership to limit support for Russia and its military-industrial complex.
