According to the Italian minister, the Russian army must stop strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure facilities in order to have a dialogue.
In an interview with Il Messaggero, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said that the European Union will urge the Ukrainian authorities to negotiate with Russia on condition that they stop strikes on critical infrastructure facilities in Ukraine.
"Only if Moscow decides to stop bombing civilian and strategic objects, Europe will be able to ask Ukraine to start peace talks," the minister said.
Tajani assured that Italian authorities will continue to provide military assistance to Ukraine.
The armed forces of the Russian Federation regularly carry out massive strikes against Ukrainian military and energy infrastructure. The first attacks were in response to the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge.
