Foreign Ministry said that US is not ready for extension of START-III

The department added that American partners should stop setting additional conditions. We remind that the contract expires in February next year.

Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sergey Ryabkov said that the United States is not ready to extend the treaty START-III.

According to him, this can be said with confidence, despite all the loud statements of the American side.

The diplomat added that Russia is ready to extend the treaty only when the States cease to set their conditions. Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry called the requirements of the White House impossible.

We remind that a few days ago, Vladimir Putin proposed extending the agreement for a year. In his opinion, such a step will allow the parties to thoroughly discuss issues of ensuring strategic security.

The presidents of Russia and the United States signed START-III in 2010.
