Russia and India hold joint naval exercises

On the Russian side, the large anti-submarine ship Admiral Tributs and the medium-sized sea tanker Pechenga are taking part in the exercises.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that Pacific Fleet ships together with the Indian Navy are conducting exercises in the waters of the Bay of Bengal.

Earlier, a detachment of ships of the Talnakhapatnam Pacific Fleet completed the activities in accordance with the plan of a business call in the port of Vishakhapatnam.

As explained in the department, the purpose of the naval exercise is to strengthen and develop Russian-Indian cooperation in this area, counter global threats, as well as to take necessary measures aimed at ensuring security in the Asia-Pacific region for civilian vessels.

Within the framework of the event, Russian and Indian servicemen will implement plans for joint maneuvering in various formations, carry out air defense and communications training. The parties also plan to practice resupply on the move and joint use of deck helicopters.

India will be represented by the destroyer Ranvijay, corvette Kiltan, as well as planes and helicopters at the exercises in the Bay of Bengal, which will last till November 22. On the Russian side, the large anti-submarine ship Admiral Tributs and the medium-sized naval tanker Pechenga are participating in the exercises.

Earlier it was reported that the command of the Russian Navy offered to dispose of the Project 971U Shchuka-B nuclear submarine Nerpa, which was previously on lease from the Indian Navy under the name Chakra-2.
