Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov flew to New York, where he will participate in the high-level week of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.

Until recently, the visit of the Russian delegation was complicated by problems with U.S. visas and logistics. Earlier on the initiative of the United States direct flights of Russian aviation companies to the country were banned. Thus, the company "Rossiya", which serves the country's delegations, fell under the restrictions.

During the UN General Assembly Lavrov will hold about 20 meetings with leaders and foreign ministers of several countries and with UN Secretary-General António Guterres. Sergey Lavrov is expected to address the UN General Assembly on Saturday, September 24.

No Russian-American contacts are expected during the General Assembly. It is not ruled out that Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will talk to his Russian counterpart about the prisoner exchange. But Moscow assumes that the subject should be discussed through the channels agreed on earlier with the United States. Otherwise, contacts between Washington and Moscow remain frozen at the initiative of the American side. They are maintained only technically at the level of embassies.
