The United States is not considering granting Ukraine a loan if a new aid package for Kiev cannot be agreed, the US president's national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, has said.

He noted that the Senate had previously approved military and economic aid. According to Sullivan, the economic assistance will be in the form of grants, as asking Ukraine to take out a loan is not "the best way forward" at the moment.

This is how the presidential aide responded to a question about whether the White House is considering extending a loan to Kiev amid a lack of progress in Congress on a request for new aid to Ukraine.

Sullivan called on the lower house of the US Parliament to follow the example of the upper house and support the request.

Earlier, Tucker Carlson criticised Senator Lindsey Graham over the idea of giving financial aid to Ukraine on credit.
