According to France Info, on Wednesday, January 19, French President Emmanuel Macron gave a speech at the European Parliament. The politician outlined the priorities of the French presidency of the European Union for the next six months. Macron's speech was to have been followed by a press conference, but there was not supposed to be an opportunity for journalists to ask questions.

"The press conference that was supposed to take place after (Macron's speech in the European Parliament) was transformed into a statement without questions," a France Info correspondent reported.

In protest, members of the media left the room before the press conference began.

"After several hours of waiting in the European Parliament, journalists learned that there would be no questions during President Macron's press conference. We left the room," CNews TV's Loïc Signore stressed on his Twitter account.

He also posted a video of the French leader commenting on the situation. According to Macron, he had already answered journalists' questions in December about the French presidency of the EU.
