Israel has offered the Palestinian Hamas movement to suspend fighting for seven days as part of a new deal to release prisoners, Axios reported, citing sources.

Mossad chief David Barnea offered a way to restart negotiations with Hamas for the release of some 40 captives, among them women, elderly men and those in urgent need of medical care.

As part of the proposal, Israel said it would agree to a temporary truce for at least a week.

Earlier, a special Russian Emergencies Ministry plane delivered the final group of Russian citizens evacuated from the Gaza Strip.
