Ilham Aliyev: Russia must deal with smuggling of its weapons into Armenia

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev urged Moscow to deal with arms smuggling to Armenia. Weapons can be transferred without the Russian authorities’ knowledge.

"We informed Moscow about the possible smuggling of Russian weapons into Armenia. It is difficult for us to believe that Russia, as co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, can transfer weapons to one of the conflicting parties during the active phase," Ilham Aliyev said in an interview with TASS.

The President of Azerbaijan noted that large entrepreneurs of Armenian origin from Russia may be involved in the scheme." The case involves well-known arms dealers under international sanctions. Baku has evidence of this. If necessary, the nomenclature of arms supplies will be published," Ilham Aliyev added.

Azerbaijan also contacted the International Civil Aviation Organization for information on arms smuggling by certain transport companies. Weapons are supplied under the guise of humanitarian supplies and supplies from the Ministry of Emergencies, Ilham Aliyev noted.

The US Congress previously demanded the expulsion of Turkey from NATO. The reason for this is the transfer of weapons and mercenaries from the terrorist organizations IS and Al-Qaeda (banned in Russia) to the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh.
