On the night of April 19, air defense systems in Iran went off. The New York Times reported, citing Iranian officials, that the target of the Israeli attack was an Iranian army airbase near the city of Isfahan. Iranian authorities acknowledged the activation of air defense systems, but said the strikes did not cause damage and all drones were shot down. There were no reports of missile attacks.

According to Iran's Fars News, nuclear facilities were not targeted and are safe.

Earlier this night, the fact of the Israeli attack was reported by the US television channel ABC. According to the media outlet, the US was warned 24-48 hours before the attack, which was in response to Iran's massive drone and missile strike on Israeli territory. The IDF announced it had shot down 99% of the aerial targets.

On April 18, a senior IRGC official, Maj. Gen. Ahmad Haqtalab, said that Iran may reconsider its nuclear doctrine if Israel continues to threaten its nuclear facilities.
