Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has announced that the European Commission's specialized service has conducted a study of the legal status of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline.
This was reported by the RBC TV channel.
According to the Russian foreign minister, based on this, sanctions cannot be imposed due to the violation of the European Union gas directive.
Sergey Lavrov emphasized that, according to the service, Nord Stream 2 is an investment project, the implementation of which started long before the amendment of the directive, the third energy package.
"That's it, the issue is closed for good. For any law-respecting person," Lavrov said.
The minister also said that Russia was fully implementing its obligations under the gas project.
