The possibility of stopping the Nord Stream 2 pipeline is an effective lever of influence on the Russian authorities, said White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki.
She stressed that the certification of the project has been stopped for the time being. With the help of this tool, the US leadership can put pressure on the Kremlin in the situation around Ukraine, TASS reported.
Earlier, the administration of President Joe Biden admitted that Russia will still be disconnected from the SWIFT system as part of a new package of sanctions. Psaki noted that the US is now continuing consultations with European partners on restrictions in the event of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
