She added that Russia has always sought to build relations with the EU on the basis of respect, equality and mutual benefit. This is how Zakharova commented on Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's statement about the readiness to completely sever relations with the EU.
Zakharova also said that the EU sometimes forgets that Russia is also a European country.
It should be reminded that the discussion on sanctions against Russia started in connection with the situation around opposition leader Aleksey Navalny.
