Lavrov and Blinken to hold talks in Geneva on January 21

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will meet personally in Geneva on January 21. This date was announced by Kommersant, citing diplomatic sources.

According to Kommersant's information, Blinken is going to visit Kiev and Berlin before meeting with his Russian colleague.

In addition, earlier Lavrov and Blinken called up and discussed negotiations on security guarantees (their draft was proposed by Moscow) and the situation in eastern Ukraine. The Russian minister called for Washington to stop "replicating speculation about Russian aggression."

Commenting on the call, the State Department reported that the head of the American department himself insisted on including Ukraine and European partners in negotiations on security guarantees.
