Chinese President Xi Jinping and French President Emmanuel Macron spoke in favor of a cease-fire in Ukraine and the resumption of peace talks during a meeting at the G20 summit in Bali on Tuesday, Nov. 15, China Central Television reported.

"We need a cease-fire, we need to stop the war and we need to start peace talks," Xi Jinping said.

Macron said Paris is ready to work with Beijing to "promote peaceful global development."

The Chinese leader stressed that China's position on the Ukrainian issue will not change. According to him, the international community should form conditions for the peace process, and Beijing will continue to make constructive efforts.

The Chinese authorities plan to contribute to the settlement of the situation in Ukraine "by their own methods," Xi Jinping noted.
