The Canadian authorities imposed sanctions on the oil and gas, chemical and industrial sectors of the Russian economy
"On July 14, 2022, Canada further amended the provisions of the Special Economic Measures (Russia) to prohibit two manufacturing services to the Russian oil and gas, chemical and manufacturing industries," according to a document published on the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website under the sanctions against Russia.
It specifies that eight new industries from these sectors were added to the black list.
The Foreign Ministry explained that residents and companies in Canada are prohibited, in particular, from providing services to Russia, which are related to the production of metal products, cars, trailers and semi-trailers, computer, electronic and optical products, electrical equipment, land transport and pipelines.
Such restrictions were announced last weekend by Melanie Joly, the head of the Canadian foreign policy agency. According to her, after the sanctions come into force, Canadian companies will have two months to complete the contracts with the target industries. Ottawa is imposing restrictive measures against the backdrop of the Russian special operation in Ukraine.
