Erdogan: I did not send militants from Syria to war in Nagorno-Karabakh

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the participation of militants from Syria in an armed clash in Nagorno-Karabakh. The politician refutes information about the transfer of militants.

"Syrian militants do not take part in the fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh. The fighters have enough business on their lands, so they have no need to go to the South Caucasus," Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in an interview with Anadolu.

The President of Turkey offered the OSCE Minsk Group countries to solve the Nagorno-Karabakh issue in favor of Azerbaijan. According to him, Russia, France and the United States “have diverted attention from the problem" over the past 30 years.

The Wall Street Journal reported on the presence of Syrian militants in Nagorno-Karabakh. They were sent there from mid-September in groups of 100 people. In early October, the Pentagon confirmed the transfer of militants, who are associated with Turkey, to Azerbaijan, and a day earlier the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported the same.

The Wall Street Journal also reports that Syrian militants receive $2,000 a month for participating in the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh. The newspaper noted that Turkey is engaged in the recruitment of militants.
