The world's first female cosmonaut, who is also a deputy, Valentina Tereshkova, opened the first plenary session of the 8th State Duma,October 12.
It is known that this meeting is dedicated to the solution of organizational and personnel issues. Deputies will elect the speaker of the chamber and his deputies, vote for the structure and personal staff of the Duma committees.
Tereshkova will inform the deputies about the results of the elections, and then she will give the floor to representatives of the five parties. Alexander Zhukov, head of the interim working group for the first session, will talk about draft resolutions on the election of a counting commission and interim management bodies before the election of the State Duma leadership.
Priority issues during the fall session will be the adoption of the federal budget, raising the minimum wage, the extension of the "dacha amnesty" and the continuation of the constitutional reform.
