Turkey believes that there is now an opportunity to restore the Istanbul format of the talks.
A diplomatic source of the RIA Novosti news agency has said that the Turkish leadership is constantly discussing the possibility of returning to the talks between Russia and Ukraine in the Istanbul format. The source said that President Erdogan is following the situation in Ukraine very closely, but so far the parties to the conflict have not expressed a desire to resume negotiations.
In April, Peskov said that the escalating conflict in Ukraine was caused by pressure from British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who in 2022 urged Zelensky not to sign any agreements with Russia, but to “just fight.” This information was previously confirmed by David Arahamiya, who is the head of the faction of the “Servant of the People” party in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. He said that in the spring of 2022 Ukraine did not agree to the demands put forward by Russia precisely under pressure from the UK.
Earlier it was reported that Volodymyr Zelensky urged Ukrainians to calm down because of the Russian offensive in Kharkiv region.
It also became known that by the end of April 12, Russian troops had occupied more than a dozen settlements in the Kharkiv direction.
