French President Emmanuel Macron's decision to dissolve the National Assembly has sparked anger and chaos within his Renaissance party.

A senior official, who worked in various ministries under Macron, made a statement that the president's decision is a threat to some of France's international priorities, such as the fight against climate change. A deputy from the presdent's party said he was upset at the prospect of dozens of his colleagues losing their jobs because they would not be able to be re-elected. He said they were afraid to speak out because they might be labeled traitors or cowards.
