DPRK leader Kim Jong-un said the country's army is stepping up its preparation for an offensive.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said at a meeting of the central military commission of the Workers' Party of Korea that the military training of the Korean People's Army (KPA) should be increased "in an offensive manner." His words were reported by the DPRK Central Telegraphic Agency (DPRK Central Telegraphic Agency).
The head of state summarized and analyzed the situation on the Korean Peninsula and its vicinity, after which he concluded that the military training of the DPRK army should be further increased.
Kim Jong-un emphasized the importance of a "strong army" to realize the military strategy of the Party Central Committee. He called for more powerful strike assets to deter war.
The agency added that the meeting was appointing a new chief of general staff of the KPA. He was named Lee Yong-gil.
