Saudi Arabia has "hinted" that it may sell some European debt assets if the Group of Seven (G7) decides to confiscate nearly $300 billion in frozen Russian assets, Bloomberg reported.

However, the Saudi Finance Ministry denied this information. The ministry informed some G7 colleagues about its disagreement with the idea of asset confiscation to support Ukraine.

Riyadh's position probably influenced the reluctance of some EU countries to seize Russian assets, the newspaper notes.

At the same time, an official letter from the Saudi Ministry of Finance notes that there were no such threats to the G7 partners.

The office emphasized that the Kingdom's relations with the G7 and other countries are based on mutual respect, Saudi Arabia continues to discuss all issues contributing to global growth and improving the sustainability of the international financial system.

In late June, the European Union approved a decision to transfer 1.4 billion euros of proceeds from frozen Russian assets to Ukraine. Earlier, the G7 countries agreed to allocate 50 billion dollars to Ukraine by the end of this year at the expense of frozen Russian assets.
