US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken issued a statement calling on Russia and its forces to «respect international humanitarian law.» He called the verdict in the DPR against the mercenaries «fictitious.»
According to Blinken, the US administration is concerned about the death sentence previously handed down by a DPR court to three mercenaries. Washington, he said, urges Moscow to respect humanitarian law.
"We are deeply concerned about reports of a bogus 'trial' and sentencing of combatants who were lawfully serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces," the secretary of state tweeted.
Recall that earlier the DPR Supreme Court decided to sentence foreign mercenaries, who became participants in hostilities by taking the side of the AFU, to capital punishment.
