The authorities of Canada and the Netherlands have issued a joint statement regarding Ukraine's lawsuit against Russia, sending the respective document to the International Court of Justice in the United Nations in The Hague. The statement was published on the website of the Canadian government.

Ottawa and Amsterdam joined Kiev's accusations and asked to consider the position of the countries regarding the interpretation, application and implementation of the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. The states also called on Russia to "immediately stop military actions in Ukraine.

As a reminder, the Ukrainian side filed a lawsuit against Russia with the International Court of Justice at the end of February. In its lawsuit, Kiev denies Moscow's claim that there was genocide in Donbass, which was one of the reasons why Russia recognized the DNR and LNR and launched a military operation to protect people.
