Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a bill that suggests that the authorities will deprive citizenship of Ukrainians who have a Russian passport or have served in the Russian army.
According to Izvestia, Zelensky submitted an urgent bill to parliament - "On Ukrainian Citizenship." The Ukrainian passport will be taken away for the use of "foreigner's documents on the territory of the country, due to which a threat to national security is created". Also, the passport may be deprived for establishing the fact of military service under contract in Russia.
Deprivation of citizenship can deprive any Ukrainian who received a Russian passport. There will be fines and criminal liability in respect of such citizens, if, for example, they worked at a Russian defense enterprise on the Crimean peninsula.
