Famous entrepreneur Ilon Musk has officially filed documents to register a new political party in the United States under the name America Party (AMEP), which stands for “Party of America”. This decision was made amid Musk's criticism of Donald Trump's policies and the administration's initiated cuts in federal spending.
Alexei Martynov, associate professor at the Finance University under the Government of the Russian Federation, believes that Musk's initiative reflects a deep public demand for a renewal of the US political landscape. In his opinion, the creation of Musk's party is reminiscent of the perestroika era in the USSR, when the old political class lost touch with society.
“The Politburo of the Central Committee of American politics has become very detached from reality, and if Trump and his predecessors resemble Leonid Brezhnev and Konstantin Chernenko, Musk and his associates resemble Mikhail Gorbachev trying to reform the country,” Martynov said.
He added that Musk's very attempt to create a new party is a sign of society's deep disillusionment with the traditional political system. Despite the fact that the party is unlikely to achieve great success, it has the potential to cause significant changes within the country.
Earlier, Trump said he was sad to see Musk go off the rails.
