The U.S. authorities expected a similar reaction from Moscow to the introduction of a price ceiling on Russian oil. This was stated by White House spokesperson Karin Jean-Pierre during a briefing.

"As for Russia's response, we are not surprised. Our task is to ensure that Russian oil flows to the world market," the spokeswoman said.

As a reminder, restrictions on the cost of oil from Russia came into force on December 5. The EU, Australia, the G7 countries have agreed on a limit of $ 60 per barrel. It is noted that on January 15, the price ceiling will be reviewed, depending on the situation on the world market. Restrictions will apply to offshore oil.

Earlier, Russia said it will not supply energy resources to the countries that set the limit, even if it has to reduce production of the resource.
