Eyewitnesses reported that shooting was heard in Alma-Ata, Kazakhstan, and there were fights between protesters and law enforcement officers.
This was reported by the Sputnik Near Abroad Telegram channel. Machine gun fire was heard in the city. Earlier, it became known about the start of an anti-terrorist operation in which at least two soldiers were killed.
The security forces who dispersed the protesters disappeared from the central streets of Alma-Ata. Riots are taking place in the city.
Recall that the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said that near Alma-Ata there is a stubborn battle between "terrorists" with the airborne units of the Ministry of Defense. Gangs seize infrastructure buildings and rooms where weapons are located. Fights are underway with cadets of schools.
