NATO has one year left to admit Ukraine to its club before Republican Donald Trump's possible victory in the U.S. presidential election, said British Times columnist Roger Boyes.
According to him, the alliance has at most a year to do so. Not only because NATO plans to celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2024 with pageantry, but also because next year's summit could be Joe Biden's last, since Trump could become president again.
Boyes noted that in this case, Ukraine would not be able to count on a high level of support from the West.
The journalist called for the start of an accelerated accession of Kiev to the alliance, as well as the search for a temporary way to provide guarantees.
Earlier, the USA rejected Wallace's candidacy for the post of NATO secretary-general.
