The Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Senate, Robert Menendez, said that the bill requires increasing the amount of intelligence about Russian activities in Nicaragua and checking arms sales for potential sanctions under the Countering America's Adversaries through Sanctions Act.
Note that Nicaragua will hold presidential and parliamentary elections on November 7. America considers the elections illegitimate because of the refusal to register several parties and the arrest of potential presidential candidates.
