According to Dagens Media, the story aired on the Swedish TV channel SVT last Thursday, July 28. It showed footage of Kherson residents crying with joy after receiving a Russian passport and swearing allegiance to Russia to the sound of the anthem.

The public considered such a presentation of information to be "propaganda". The Swedish Broadcasting Council received a total of 47 complaints about the channel.

Against this backdrop, SVT apologized for the video.

The residents of Kherson received their first Russian passports on July 11. Thousands of people have already applied for Russian citizenship, and there are hundreds of thousands who wish to do so.

At the same time, the Ukrainian authorities are discussing the possibility of introducing criminal liability for obtaining a Russian passport.
