Mikhail Gudkov, deputy commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy (Navy), who tragically died in Kursk region, was supposed to be directly involved in reforming the Marine Corps forces.
The publication found out that Mikhail Gudkov was in charge of all coastal troops and Marine Corps units of the Navy.
According to plans, as part of the reform, divisions were to be formed on the basis of the existing Marine brigades, equipping them with modern heavy weapons and aviation equipment.
Major General Gudkov's death was reported by the Governor of Primorsky Krai Oleg Kozhemyako on July 3, expressing his condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
It also became known that officer Nariman Shikhaliyev was killed together with Deputy Navy Commander Gudkov in Kursk region.
