Hungary has taken over the presidency of the EU Council for the next six months. At the same time, it still has serious disagreements with the EU leadership on a number of issues, including the conflict in Ukraine and migration.

Hungary takes over the EU baton from Belgium on Monday, July 1, with a view to handing it over to Poland on a rotating basis at the end of December.

The uneasy relations within the community have even affected the choice of the motto of the Hungarian presidency: "Let's make Europe great again!". It is similar to the election slogan of Donald Trump, who does not support the current leadership of the European Union, but Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban is openly on his side.

The official logo of the presidency is a Rubik's cube, with one of the faces showing the red-white-and-green Hungarian flag and the other the EU emblem in the form of stars arranged in a circle. This year, the invention of Hungarian engineer Ernő Rubik's invention turned 50 years old.

The Presidency website notes that the puzzle requires "strategic vision, patience, discipline and precision," exactly the qualities needed for Hungary's presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Earlier it was reported that the EU was preparing a cunning plan to continue military aid to Kiev in defiance of Hungary.
