"We confirm that we have received a written response from Russia. It would be counterproductive to negotiate in public, so we will leave it up to Russia to decide whether or not to bring this issue into the media space," the US State Department said.

It is reported that Washington is fully committed to a dialogue with Russia on security issues. The Ukrainian crisis is on the same spectrum. The US is also ready to continue close consultations with allies and partners on the Ukrainian problem.

Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said the day before during a meeting of the Security Council that the West wants to reduce negotiations with Russia to a settlement on the border with Ukraine. The United States is deliberately creating the impression that Moscow is allegedly escalating tensions on purpose in order to "trade it for more concessions from the United States and NATO in the future."

The Washington Post earlier reported that the White House had received Russia's response on security guarantees. the content of the document was not disclosed.
