Sobyanin opens largest bus station “Central” in Russia

On Thursday, October 29, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov opened the Central bus station after reconstruction on Shchelkovsky highway.

According to the mayor of the capital, the "obsolete" building was turned into "the most comfortable and largest bus station in Europe.

"A number of destinations to the Baltic, north, east and northeast of Russia will be served here," Sobyanin said.

The press service of the Moscow City Hall and Government clarified that a new multifunctional complex "Shchelkovsky" was erected on the site of the old building, which includes a bus station, shopping center and underground parking, designed for 330 car seats.

From the cash desks on the 1st floor to the waiting room and the bus boarding area can be reached by spacious elevators. The building also has toilets, a mother-and-child room, a children's corner, a room of high comfort, and a cafe. A car wash and a workshop for maintenance and repair will work at the bus station.
