Head of Rospotrebnadzor for Moscow Andreeva: Wearing masks is a recommendation

According to Chief Medical Officer of Moscow Yelena Andreeva, the situation with influenza in the capital is not easy, but the morbidity peak has passed.

Wearing masks is not mandatory in Moscow, but the flu situation is not easy right now, Elena Andreeva, Moscow's chief state sanitary doctor, said on the air of Moscow 24 TV channel. According to her, the city has been sick and ill for several weeks now.

She noted that in terms of numbers and intensity, the sickness rate has reached its peak. Andreeva added that recommendations can give the most standard - they are necessary for all respiratory viral infections. "If you want to protect yourself, still use a mask. In Moscow, a mask regime is not introduced, it is not a mandatory rule," she explained.

The mandatory mask regime in Moscow was abolished on March 15. On Thursday Rospotrebnadzor in Moscow recommended employees of health care and social welfare institutions to wear masks.
